Julian Patrick Summer Vocal camp
for Gifted High School Students
This year the Julian Patrick Vocal Camp suffered a great loss with the death of founder and director Leslie McEwen. Leslie was a frequent performer in Wenatchee Valley but made her most personal impact as a meticulous teacher of voice. In 2007 she founded the Julian Patrick Vocal Camp to give promising students a chance to work intensely with a variety of professionals from around the country.
This year, the board and staff press forward with this incredible program in honor of Leslie and her tireless work elevating the art of music in the Wenatchee Valley.

The camp is limited to 10 to 15 singers, chosen on the basis of live or recorded audition and recommendation of a high school vocal director or private voice instructor. All out of town students will be housed by host families. Continental breakfast and daily lunches will be provided at the campsite. Students need to bring an allowance for possible evening meals.
Students must be 15-19 years old, with a minimum of two years of high school choral experience (2 years of vocal lessons can substitute for choral experience). Please include a signature of a parent or guardian and the name, phone numbers, and signature of your current private instructor or ensemble director on your application.
The Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center is proud to present the 9th annual Julian Patrick Summer Workshop for Gifted High School Singers. Julian Patrick, noted baritone, passed away in 2009. He had performed worldwide with major opera companies including the Metropolitan Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Dallas Opera and Seattle Opera. He was also an experienced vocal educator. This one-week intensive camp, administered by chosen faculty, offers dedicated high school vocal students an opportunity to explore the many facets involved in developing the singer’s art, and helps them prepare for study at the college and professional level.
